In Spain it is usually very common for groups of fans to gather at the exit of the sports city or team facilities in order to obtain photos or autographs from the players when they leave in their cars. This Monday there was a strange episode when the Uruguayan central defender, Ronald Araújo, was leaving with his car.
The player was greeted by a small crowd of fans looking for photos and signatures. The defender stopped with his car for a margin of at least two minutes to attend to those present and then he prepared to start his car to leave.
In the midst of the tumult, the surreal incident was generated. A fan approached Araújo while he was accelerating little by little and without realizing it, she accidentally stepped on the woman’s foot with a tire. Quickly a scream was heard: “You have crushed my foot”.
The Uruguayan footballer was concerned in at all times and got out of the car to request help from a security person. Subsequently, the woman was helped by employees of FC Barcelona and taken by a cart to the doctor.
According to media information in Spain, the situation had no major consequences and the fan said she was fine.
Araújo is currently recovering from an injury sustained in a match with the Uruguayan team on the last FIFA date against Finland . The young central defender suffered a problem in the long adductor tendon of his right leg. That forced him to return to Barcelona and undergo surgery last 28 September.
The player does not train with his teammates, but he still attends the facilities of the club to continue with his recovery and rehabilitation process and thus be able to reach the World Cup in Qatar 2022 which will be held in a few weeks.
This type of traffic jam by the fans occurs both in the arrival of the figures to the sports city as at the start. Even many times, in addition to the fans, there are also journalists and cameramen trying to get a statement from the soccer players.
