As a certified family physician in holistic wellness strategies, Mitchell explains that weight has become a controversial topic in recent years, but this aaffects our energy levels, ability to move and mood.

It is essential to be aware of our weight and make sure it is at a healthy level, it does not mean that we should be obsessed with our weight or constantly dieting; but we do understand that our weight affects our health and well-being in general.

Health risks

One of the most common risks of being overweight is type 2 diabetes, which occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin or does not produce enough.

It also causes heart disease because excess weight overloads the heart and can cause high blood pressure and coronary artery disease.

Tight clothes

If your clothes feel tighter than normal, it could mean you’ve gained weight. Although swelling or fluid retention can also be the cause, but most of the time an increase in kilos is the reason.

When we gain weight, our body stores the extra calories as fat that accumulates around the waist, hips and thighs. If you suspect that you have been increasing in size, it is ideal that you consult your doctor.

You feel tired all the time

If you are overweight you will also have fatigue. Carrying extra weight can make it difficult to get enough sleep at night, and the extra stress on your body can make it hard to feel energetic during the day.
