The cabinet of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), president of Mexico, has once again suffered the loss of one of its pillars during his administration, the Secretary of the Economy.

And it is that Tatiana Clouthier took advantage of the conference that AMLO usually holds every morning to present her resignation because she feels exhausted.

“ My opportunity to add him to the team is exhausted, I’ll go to the club, from where I will follow the team with enthusiasm, “said the woman from 54 years who has accompanied the president since his time as a candidate when working as the campaign coordinator.

From December 7, 2020, Clouthier replaced Graciela Márquez Colín at the head of the Ministry of Economy and her work was key in the implementation of Mexico’s economic and trade policy in the face of the Entry into force of the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC).

#Goodmorning Mexico remained the second largest trading partner of the US between January and August 2022, our trade grew 20.4% annually, according to the US Census. Our commercial integration continues to strengthen.

Upon learning of the resignation of the woman from Culiacán, Sinaloa, López Obrador made it clear that she will continue to morally support the transformation of the country.

“I received a letter from Tatiana in which she tells me that she wishes to withdraw from the Government, but not from the fight for the transformation of the country, and we respect her decision, we insisted that she stay, but it is a woman with convictions, with criteria, and has made this decision. We wanted to do it here to thank you very much, for her contribution, for her support. She cannot go out the back door, she has supported us and I repeat, we are going to feel her absence”, she emphasized.

So far it is unknown who will take the place of Tatiana Clouthier, but some political analysts suggest that, after taking a few months off, the now ex-government official could possibly fight for becoming a pre-candidate for the presidential seat ahead of the 100 elections, for the political party National Regeneration Movement.

If so, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, current head of government of Mexico City, would no longer have a clear path to pursue the same objective.
