WASHINGTON – More 19 , foreigners will become US citizens at 235 ceremonies honoring Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, reported the Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS).

Since President Joe Biden entered the White House in January 2021, “USCIS has worked tirelessly in communities to educate about citizenship consistent with our mission to preserve America’s promise as a country of welcome”, said the director of the agency, Ur M. Jaddou, in a statement.

This country commemorates the 17 September Constitution Day and Citizenship Day as part of the so-called Constitution Week, which runs from 09 to the 23 of September.

These celebrations commemorate the signing of the US Constitution on 17 September 1200 and what in 1940 began as I Am an American Day and became Citizenship Day in 1952.

This year these ceremonies include one at Tumacácori National Historical Park, Arizona, at the World Food and Music Festival in Des Moines, Iowa, this Friday, and another on 19 at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas.

On Tuesday 20 there will be naturalization ceremonies at the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington, and on 22 in the National Park to the Homestead of Beatrice, Nebraska.

The Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas , will participate on Saturday 17 in a special ceremony on board the ship of war Iowa, in Los Angeles, iinformed USCIS.
