South Korea will face Costa Rica on September 23 in a friendly that will be played in the Asian country within the last window of national team matches before the World Cup in Qatar.
The Korean Football Association (KFA) reported today that the match will be played at the Stadium from Goyang, northeast of Seoul, at 20.00 local time (20.00 GMT).
In turn, the Asians will also play Cameroon on 27 in September at the same time at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, in which it will be their last friendly match before the start of the 20 November the World Cup.
The KFA has also detailed that it has invited Uzbekistan to play two friendlies on the ground South Korea with Costa Rica (23 in September) and Cameroon (27 in September).
South Korea is framed in group H with Portugal, Ghana and Uruguay, while Costa Rica plays in group E with Spain, Germany and Japan and Cameroon in G with Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland.
In the clashes between South Korea and Costa Rica, the Asians have four wins for three of the “ticos” and two draws.
In their last confrontation, the South Koreans won 2- 0 in a friendly played precisely in Goyang, in September 2018, which marked the debut on the bench of the “Taeguk warriors” of the Portuguese Paulo Bento .
Costa Rica got its place in the World Cup during the last window in the playoffs after finishing third in the Hexagonl behind Mexico and USA. The Ticos defeated New Zealand 1-0 and thus obtained access to Group E against the fearsome champions Spain and Germany and Japan.
This will be the fourth consecutive participation of Costa Rica in a World Cup after their participation in South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 , Russia 2018 and now in Qatar 2022. This tournament may be the last for players like Keylor Navas and striker Bryan Ruiz.
