The Minor League Baseball (MiLB) announced this Wednesday the suspension of up to 60 games to 6 players between the that 3 Dominicans, 2 Venezuelans and a Mexican are found after violating the league’s Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
All those suspended were developing in the popular Dominican Summer League. Ricardo Estrada is the name of the Mexican prospect of the San Francisco Giants who was suspended for testing positive for Drostanolone. The young pitcher is only 24 years old.
This substance is widely known in the world of bodybuilding for increasing strength and muscle mass through various physiological mechanisms by increasing nitrogen retention.
Christian Suárez, José Serrano and Jeremy Castro are the three Dominican baseball players who tested positive for the same substance. Suárez is from the Atlanta Braves, while Serrano is part of the Houston Astros and Castro is a member of the Kansas City Royals organization.
All three tested positive for Stanozolol which is known to be an anabolic steroid. This substance is similar to testosterone and increases protein synthesis and enhances muscle development.

Venezuelan pitchers Richard Cardoza and Miguel González gave also positive for Stanozolol. Cardoza pitches for the New York Mets, while González pitches for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
These six suspensions come shortly after the controversial suspension of Dominican star Fernando Tatis from the San Diego Padres for 80 games, in which he expressed regret and will not be playing until at least the season 2023.
The Dominican Summer League is a branch affiliated with minor league baseball that has been taking place in the Dominican Republic since 1985.
The league has six divisions and will start its postseason this Thursday 25 of August. The Commissioner’s Office announced that the suspensions take effect immediately.
