Borja Voces exclusively: “6 years after arriving, I understand what the 'American Dream' means”

Yesterday we told you in scoop that Borja Voces will be the new presenter of ‘Mira Quien Baila All Stars’ together with Chiquinquirá Delgado , in the space left by Javier Poza after 10 Years at the helm of the reality show on Sundays in Univision .

As of 14 March at 8/7 PM Central, for 6 weeks, talents from the network will join the track of the most famous dance, and Borja, who confesses that once he even thought about participating in the version of his native Spain, knowing that he does not dance and that he could make a fool of himself, he still cannot believe that today he will be in charge of that program that I always love so much.

“I feel very grateful, I had never imagined arriving in the United States, and that the Hispanic public received me so well, and accept me in the roles in which I do .. If I make news, if I do entertainment, immense the gratitude I have for the Latin public… They have raised me to the maximum of my dreams ”, says Voces via Zoom without removing the smile from his face, the one he says he has worn since day who offered him the opportunity.

“It is amazing to have this opportunity and share with Hispanic families on Sundays, which is a moment of union, of celebration throughout the week… That point of union that I will be there ”, he clarifies.

The emotion for Borja is so great, that when made it official internally that the driving was his, no matter that in Madrid it was 1 in the morning, he called his parents, who almost gave them a heart attack when they saw the 5 missed calls and heard him crying, but he says he needed to share with them , who suffer so much to have it so far away, that it is worth it.

“It is such a great realization of dreams, it is a reaching and conquering things and dreams for which I have worked so hard and for so many years, which is really very exciting, very exciting to be fulfilling my dreams and supporting myself from Hispanics in the United States ”, says Borja.

The young journalist that we see daily in ‘Primer Impacto’ and in ‘Digital Edition’ of the news, he knows that getting to ‘Mira Quien Baila’ is not only a dream but also a challenge:

“I’m not a coin of change and I’m sure Not everyone will like me, and I’m also prepared for criticism after presenting ‘Mira Quien Baila’, which I am sure going to do with my heart and I’m going to leave my foot ”, he says convinced.

And on the other hand, it is also clear that take the place that by 10 Javier Poza had years, it will be another challenge, for many reasons:

“I admire Javier Poza very much since I have seen him in ‘Mira Quien Baila’, and I have followed his journalistic work in Mexico, with his radio program and everything, I have a very high bar because he is a great professional and he does it super good ”.

Generally on television there is an unspoken rule, in which a journalist or news anchor can hardly be also in a entertainment show, by image, so as not to confuse the public. However, Borja is one of the few, or perhaps the only one who has managed to break the barrier, without losing.

What is your secret to achieve it?

“I try to work hard to do the things I do with my heart and the truth… I try to feel the news, empathize with the guest in front of me. If something amuses me, it amuses me, and if something makes me cry I start crying… ”.

How does Borja imagine that first day What do I have to say: “On the track of ‘Mira Quien Baila’…”?

“I know my skin is going to get sweet, and I’m going to remember a lot of the most complicated moments of my professional career, I’m going to remember a lot of the times they have told me no … I’m going to remember a lot of the times I’ve been presenting programs by 10 at night to 3 a.m. with little audience, and many made fun of me for that, and I did it because I knew I wanted to dedicate myself to this.

And everything beautiful, and all dreams come true, and for me that is this country, a country of immigrants, opportunities, and a country where an executive producer, the first one who gave me the opportunity here, Pilar Campos, was an executive producer of ‘Primer Impacto’, and she told me: ‘The sky’s the limit’ … I have that phrase very etched inside of me, because I did not understand it and now, 6 years after arriving, I understand perfectly what it means and the ‘American Dream’, and I am a faithful example that with work, with tenacity, even if you don’t know anyone, do not have a lever, your father and mother do not dedicate themselves to this medium, dreams come true ”.

Borja, who already had a career In Spain, he lived happily with a very close family, 6 years ago he took a plane to the United States with an uncertain destination and with many dreams. Today, 6 years later, I would surely never have imagined that this was going to be happening to them. What does this young man say to the one with the suitcase?

“That you are going to have a great time, and that you are going to be happy, do not be afraid to take that plane, that the pain of being far from yours and starting from scratch in another market that is not yours, in another city that is not yours, will allow you to explore, and it will to be grow as a human being… So Borja, take that plane without hesitation and let’s look for the American dream ”.
