Due to a transformer failure, approximately 5,000 Southern California Edison (SCE) customers in Torrance residences and businesses were left without power service this Tuesday.
According to the electric service company, the blackout, which started around 12: 42 pm this Tuesday, initially it was reported that had left without electricity to more than 8,460 clients, but later the number of affected by the cut was adjusted to 5, 06.
Apparently, the burned transformer was in Torrance, but caused blackouts in several areas of South Redondo Beach, according to Redondo Beach police.
With traffic lights turned off at many intersections, several roads were closed, including portions of Sepulveda Boulevard , in Torrance; and Camino Real, in Redondo Beach.
Southern California Edison reported that had dispatched teams of workers to repair the problem and reinstall electrical service to customers.
