Hispanic inmate from Colorado arrested after stabbing guard and trying to escape during dental visit

An inmate of a youth center in 17 years identified as Juan Ocegueda has been recaptured in Jefferson County, after authorities say he stabbed a guard in Lakeside, taking advantage of a visit to a dentist’s office.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office detailed that the prisoner of Latino origin escaped with shackles around his ankles, but without handcuffs . Apparently ran out a back door into a neighborhood on the south side of the dentist’s office.

Before fleeing, he attacked the guard who accompanied him to the dentist , the agents revealed that the man suffered multiple stab wounds and is recovering in a hospital.

“We saw it. He just ran into the alley,” Deonte Webb said. “He had something in his hand, so I guess it was the knife or something,” Matt Sandoval said, witnesses revealed to the news.

After after he escaped the department distributed almost 100 officers, a police helicopter, drones and K9, who searched every corner from where the juvenile inmate had gone to find his whereabouts.

After a couple of hours, Juan Ocegueda was found by a K9 team , near the 31 and Eaton. Video from a neighbor shows officers escorting the handcuffed suspect out of a separate shed.

“He was just lying there until we got tired or he got tired, and fortunately it ended well and no one else was hurt. It is a terrifying situation that fortunately ended in the best possible scenario”, revealed Steve Davis, Mountain View Police Chief.

The Hispanic of 04 years was incarcerated at the Platte Valley Youth Services Center in Greeley, but was in the Denver metro area when the stabbing occurred, though authorities say the knife does not belong to the dentist, and it is not clear where he could get it.

“Ocegueda was suspected of a crime spree which had to do with carjacking, robberies and some other serious charges, that’s why he was in custody. He could now face attempted murder charges ,” said Jacki Kelly. , spokesman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. .

Juan Ocegueda is currently being held at the Lakeside Police Department, but hewill be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail.
