The couple was arrested on 25 May as the result of a months-long police investigation that began on 18 January after the Rialto Police Department was notified of the allegations of abuse inflicted on five minor victims, out of 11 Y 17 years old.

Rialto police said the information was related tioned with an initial investigation conducted by the Barstow Police Department in August of 2021, which determined that the victims suffered abuse for four years while living with their uncles in a Rialto address, on the block 1000 of E. Jackson Street.

The detectives talked with each of the victims, who described various forms of abuse and torture, such as branding, strangulation and shots with pellet guns.

“Sometimes, during the punishment , children were forced to kneel on rice for a long time, or forced to kneel outside, on hot concrete, on small pieces of gravel,” said Rialto Police Detective Erica Duque.

During a medical examination scars were discovered that were consistent with the reports of abuse of the victims.

The couple was booked into the West Valley Detention Center , in San Bernardino County, with bonds set at $782,000 dollars for each.
