The presentation of the long-awaited film “Elvis” -a biographical account of the legendary and fascinating career of the king of rock– has generated great expectation, because the screening of the film took place at the Festival of Cannes and, of course, also because that event was full of musical stars like Shakira or Kylie Minogue.

Logically, the lovers of the seventh art and, above all, those of the iconic Elvis Presley are eager to see if the handsome young actor Austin Butler is up to for the demanding task entrusted to him by the director Baz Luhrmann, who for his part has been very aware of the opinion of critics and the public in recent days, after its media staging on La Croisette.

In a recent interview, the Australian director only made reference to what he considers the most important review of all, the one offered by the very Priscilla Presley , the singer’s widow, as soon as she was able to enjoy the film in a private screening. “No criticism, no opinion will mean as much to us as that of the woman who was married to him”, pointed out the filmmaker of 59 years . But what exactly did Priscilla tell him?

“He told me: ‘If my husband were here today, he would say (to Austin): ‘My goodness, you’re just like me!’… It was the best comment I could have received”, revealed with pride Luhrmann, responsible for other acclaimed musical tapes such as “Moulin Rouge!”, the big winner at the awards ceremony Oscar in 2002.
