The man who was accused of strangling his pregnant fiancée to death and then buried in the backyard of a relative’s house almost three years ago, will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

The prosecutor DeKalb County District Clerk Sherry Boston said a jury found Aldeyshaun Locklear guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault by strangulation, and cover-up of the death of another, in the murder of Tea Choates, of 25 years. Locklear received a life sentence from the judge.

Tea Choates’s grandmother reported the disappearance of the teenager on 10 in August, after allegedly no one had seen her for four days. Locklear and Choates lived in their home in Lithonia at the time.

An anonymous tip told investigators Aldeyshaun Locklear had returned to his parents’ home and the last time he saw Choates was when he went out with friends. Initially denied knowing anything about her disappearance.

Authorities said that Locklear later changed his story, saying the two argued and that the Choate family threatened him with a knife. He also said that she hit her head in a bathtub when he pushed her.

According to the defendant, she revealed that after the blow she tried CPR with Choates, but she did not wake up and stopped breathing. Locklear allegedly wrapped Choates in a white blanket and buried her in the woods behind her grandmother’s house.

When the officers dug up his body in the shallow grave, The man changed his story again. This time, he confessed to strangling her to death, FOX5 reported.

Although the investigation revealed that there were cases of physical abuse before Choates’ death.

The couple, family members say, met in March of that year and had plans to get married. Also, she was three months pregnant.
