The man who died after falling 300 feet off a cliff early Monday morning in Los Angeles County was Hispanic.

The man who died after he and 3 other people fell was Hispanic approximately 400 feet off a cliff early Monday morning in Palos Verdes Estates, in Los Angeles County.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jerardo Huitzil, a resident of 25 years.

Huitzil and the other 3 people slipped and fell about 300 feet to the beach. The police investigated the fall as an accident.

Police of Palos Verdes Estates said that Huitzil and his 3 companions were hanging out when one of them got too close to the edge of the cliff, slipped and fell.

Capt. Steve Barber, of the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department, mentioned during a conference of press that the 3 people tried to prevent him from falling, but they all slipped.

Jerardo Huitzil died at the scene of the accident.

Vincent Ávila, who suffered minor injuries, managed to climb up from the beach and around 4: 30 am alerted an officer who was passing near the place where the incident occurred , Barber said.

Two women were transferred by air from the beach to a hospital, each in critical condition , the official reported .

Palos Verdes Estates is located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, at the southern tip of Los Angeles County.

A trail runs along the top of the cliff facing the Pacific Ocean.
