Pope Francis calls for an end to “indiscriminate circulation of weapons” after massacre in Texas

Pope Francis asked to end “the indiscriminate circulation of weapons” after the massacre that occurred in a primary school in the town of Uvalde, in Texas (United States), in an appeal at the end of the general audience that he held in Saint Peter’s Square before thousands of faithful.

“I have a broken heart for the massacre at elementary school in Texas. I pray for the murdered children and adults and for their families,” Francis said.

The pontiff then added that “The time has come to say enough is enough to the indiscriminate circulation of weapons”. “Everyone’s commitment is needed so that tragedies like this never happen again,” he observed.

At least, 19 children and a teacher died this Tuesday by shots from a young man from 18 years that he broke into the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde and later the attacker was later shot down by the Police.

According to the information provided by the authorities, the aggressor was Salvador Ramos, who entered with a handgun, and possibly a rifle, on the 05: 37 local time (16: 37 GMT time) at the school about 83 miles (133 kilometers) from San Antonio.
