A young man from years entered a school in the town of Uvalde, Texas, shortly before noon this Tuesday, and killed at least 21 persons.
The man was identified as Salvador Ramos, an American citizen who lived in that town of 15.000 inhabitants located about 135 kilometers from San Antonio.
He was reported as a student at Uvalde High School.
Ramos was driving a pick up truck that crashed into a ditch a few meters from Robb Elementary School, where he entered and committed the shooting.
The victims were 2nd, 3rd or 4th grade students with ages between 7 and years.
The school has 574 students and the 90% of them are of Latino origin, according to The New York Times. The newspaper added that the 15% of the students are from disadvantaged families.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott said that Ramos was carrying a gun and that “he may have also had a rifle”.
CBS News published that the perpetrator of the crime was carrying a pistol, an AR semi-automatic rifle-15 and high capacity chargers.
Killed at least 19 students and two adults.
Before going to school, Ramos shot his grandmother, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition..
Ramos died at the scene.
The local police chief said that everything indicates that the young man acted alone.
