Bayern Munich officially announced on Tuesday the signing of Moroccan winger Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax Amsterdam.
“Noussair Mazraoui is the next piece to promptly strengthen our team”, said the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Oliver Kahn.
“For the next season we have set great goals and players like him expand our possibilities. We are happy to fight with him in the Champions League and we want to have success together in the coming years”, he added.
Mazraoui, capped twelve times by Morocco, signed until 2024.
“I had good sensations from the first conversations with Bayern and I am happy to sign for one of the greats in Europe “, said the player, born in Leiderdorp in the Netherlands and coming from the Ajax youth academy.
“I have decided on this club because here you can win the biggest titles”, he added.
According to the sports director from Bayern, Hasan Salihamidzic, Mazraoui had offers from several European clubs but in the end he decided on the Bavarian club.
In a video posted by the official Twitter account of Bayern Munich you can see some of the plays of the full-back, both in the Champions League and in the Eredivisie, when he played for Ajax.
“He did it because we have a plan with him and we want to achieve great goals together”, said Salihamidzic.
Bayern’s plan is for Mazraoui to play a role on the right wing similar to that of Alphonso Davies on the left wing.
This would also allow Benjamin Pavard to move to the center of defense, where he feels more comfortable.
