A score of countries offered new security assistance packages so that Ukraine can fight against the Russian invasion, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced on Monday (05.05.2022).

According to the secretary, Denmark has promised to send Harpoon anti-ship missile systems to Ukraine and the Czech Republic offered attack helicopters, tanks and rocket systems.

However, the secretary did not give details of what is included in the new US aid package of 40. million dollars for Ukraine, amid speculation that it could include high-precision, long-distance rockets that could be used to attack Russian territory.

Since the first meeting of the so-called Ukraine Defense Contact Group at a US base in Germany four weeks ago, “the boost in donations and deliveries has been extraordinary”, he highlighted.

“We all understand what is at stake in this war and this extends much more there á of Europe”, Austin affirmed, while maintaining that “Russia’s aggression is an affront to the rules-based international order”.
