Alejandra Ayala came out of the induced coma: The Mexican boxer woke up and is recovering in a hospital in Glasgow, the city where she was knocked out

The Mexican boxer Alejandra Ayala has come out of the induced coma to which she was subjected after a “successful surgery ” and is “recovering” in a Glasgow hospital, after her fight against the Scottish boxer Hannah Rankin for the super welterweight world championship held in Glasgow (Scotland) ten days ago.

According to the company organizing the fight, Fight Academy, Ayala -alias “Fénix”-, from 33 years old, regained consciousness after being awakened from an induced coma at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow due to serious injuries during his fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight world title.

The Aztec boxer will continue her recovery at the hospital in the Scottish city, according to the Fight Academy statement, which appreciates the work of health professionals for their care.

In the tenth round of their fight , Ayala chained a series of strong blows to the face that the referees ended up decreeing KO and the victory for his opponent Rankin, forcing her to be treated in the Ovo Hydro ring in Glasgow.

The fighter was admitted from urgently at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in the Scottish city with a subdural hematoma.

The winner of the match, Rankin, made her reaction public through his social networks and thanked “all the prayers and positive thoughts for Ayala and her family.”

The boxer The Scottish woman showed “a huge thank you” to the “world-class” medical team, as well as her team “for the support during this difficult time” for her.

Fight Academy states in its statement that its “best wishes are with her” during this recovery process, and was willing to “help her in any way it can.”
