Sara Arfaoui, presenter and model, has married in a secret wedding with the German Ilkay Gündogan, Manchester City footballer. Both announced the marriage on social networks with a gallery of images of the ceremony and celebration in Madrid, Spain.
“We are married, we are really happy. We can’t wait to celebrate it with our family and friends”, they both wrote in a post on Instagram.
Almost six months ago, the German had published a photo with her showing the engagement ring so it was to be expected that they would soon celebrate the wedding. Both met after the European Championship 2020 in which Germany fell in the round of 16 against England.
“Yes, yes, yes, you are my best friend, my everything. I can’t believe this is real. Thank you for your love”, wrote the model after the marriage proposal.
On her Instagram profile, the model shares the photos of the covers of important fashion magazines and also of trips she has made with Gündogan among which is a trip to United States.
Even Arfaoui was in the second leg of Manchester City’s quarterfinal against Atlético de Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain.
The German footballer, aged 31, has scored 36 goals in 156 games with the Manchester City shirt, after his time at Jurgen Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund . Gündogan will be one of the key pieces for the German team in the World Cup in Qatar 2022
A supposed interest from Real Madrid has been linked to Gündogan, who ends his contract this year with City, but the player himself has denied any type of conversation with the Spanish team.
“I’ve never been in Madrid. Sometimes, the private reason is not football”, he assured.
