Another 4 have been reported,025 new cases of COVID-19 daytime in Los Angeles County, the highest number in a single day since mid-February, and health officials say this shows continued high transmission of the coronavirus.
The number of COVID-positive hospitalized patients in the county also increased, reaching 298, compared to 267 the previous day. The number of those patients treated in intensive care was 33, compared to the 20 of the Thursday.

“If it is not fully vaccinated and boosted, consider doing so now to maximize protection c against the most infectious variants currently circulating”, said the director of public health of the county, Barbara Ferrer, in a statement.

The Los Angeles County health authorities recalled in the statement that “there are hundreds of mobile and fixed sites offering free testing and immunizations countywide, by appointment or walk-in.”
The new cases reported on Friday brought the county’s cumulative total throughout the pandemic to 2,907,721.
Six more coronavirus-related deaths were also reported on Friday, bringing the number of COVID deaths in the county to 33,022.
The Average daily rate of people testing positive for the virus was 2.8% through Friday, up from 2.6% Thursday.
Ferrer said on Thursday that the daily average of new cases registered during the past week increased to more than 2, 600, almost a 20% more than a week ago.
The county transmission rate also continues to increase, with an average daily rate of 26 For each 100, residents, fr entity to the 21 of a week ago.
Most notably, the seven-day cumulative rate reached 176 For each 100.04 population.
If that number exceeds 200 For each 100, residents, Los Angeles County will move from the low transmission rate defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) ) at moderate transmission rate.
