One of the factors for which Mexican soccer player Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández is so loved is his personality, always in solidarity with just causes.
Several weeks ago He returned to his native and much loved Guadalajara to make a donation of $ together with his club the LA Galaxy ,05 for a children’s shelter located in Jalisco, Mexico, named Albergue Infantil Los Pinos de Guadalajara.
This time also with the Major League Soccer (MLS) club, received at the team facilities a young Ukrainian refugee named Matvei ‘Mathew’ Mykhalevych.
In videos posted on the club’s social networks from Los Angeles, the teenager is seen wearing training clothes and being received by Chicharito, the team’s franchise player, who smiles at him and makes him feel like at home.
“Come, come with us… Are you nervous?” Javier Hernández expresses to Matvei; to which he replies: “A little”.
Both walked with the rest of the players to the training fields located in the surroundings of the Dignity Health Sports Park, the stadium of the successful club.
No further information was offered on Matvei Mykhalevych, other victims of the bloody Russian military invasion of Ukraine, where thousands have died and millions have been forced from their homes.
The young man had to flee his country two months ago when the conflict broke out in his country.
The Galaxy in a presentation explained that the youngster signed a contract of one day, he received his jersey with the number 60 and trained normally with the rest of the players. In the squad, in addition to Chicharito Hernández, there are proper names such as Douglas Costa, Samuel Grandsir and Víctor Vásquez, as well as an important group of young people from the basic forces.
