“Canelo is still a legend and I will give him a rematch, but it is not my goal”: Dmitry Bivol spoke about a second fight with Saúl Álvarez
With great humility, Dmitry Bivol spoke of the upcoming rematch against Canelo Álvarez , after last weekend he defeated him in Las Vegas, giving him the second loss of his career and the first in nine years.
In an interview with DAZN, the Russian boxer said that is willing to give the Mexican a rematch , although is not his priority or his target for the time being. But in case Saúl Álvarez formalizes the request, of course he would accept, somewhat corresponding to the gesture that he first gave him the opportunity to confront him.
“I wanted for this fight to draw more attention, to show my skills to many fans, to introduce myself to boxing fans. Now I have it, and it is not my goal to have a rematch with Canelo. I have a goal to have more belts in the light heavyweight division . It is not the first thing I want to do, I have an indisputable objective. Yes, (Canelo has options) in the contract, I have to give him a rematch (if he wants), but it is not my goal. But I will give him the rematch, of course , if he wants. He gave me a chance and , of course, I will give it a try . If he doesn’t take it, no problem, I go my own way”, Dmitry Bivol mentioned with a relaxed attitude.
