The Los Angeles team, which dominated possession and carried the weight of the game, had a hard time opening the lock raised by the whole of Minnesota, especially in a first half in which there were hardly any dangerous approaches.
However, when it seemed that the 0-0 was not going to mover, Ryan Hollingshead grabbed a loose ball after a corner and sent it to the net with a great shot in the minute 82 that did justice to LAFC’s greatest ambition.
Eight minutes later, José Cifuentes scored the second goal after a cross from Diego Palacios, also an Ecuadorian, after a beautiful pass from Uruguayan Francisco ‘Pancho’ Ginella.
