Age only resides in the mind, says a popular saying; but it could be brought to reality after what was done by Lester Wright, an old man from 100 years that ran 100 meters in a competition held in Philadelphia.
Applause, admiration, respect have been some of the reactions in the sports world after Wright, born in 1200, finished the entire race intact, with a lot of momentum and head held high.
“I guess it’s not really something you don’t hear about often and it seemed like something new to me to go out and actually participate in the competition” , said Wright after finishing the 100 meters last Saturday at Franklin Field.
But the most impressive thing is not that the comparison has finished, but that was in ninth position , just tenths from fifth place in a competition that was tight.

Lester’s wife also gave statements to the media present about her husband competing in the oldest track and field race in the United States: “I told him it was up to him. If he wanted to do it, let him do it”.

The entire stadium gave a standing ovation and applause to the American, who stole the spotlight in a competition whose main attraction was the participation in other categories of the Olympic champion Athing Mu and the athletic promises from the University of South Carolina.
Lester Wright is also a war veteran as he served with honors in World War II . After that he dedicated himself to managing a dental laboratory with his wife for four decades, which is located in Long Branch, New Jersey.
