Katie Taylor defeats Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano in one of the best fights in women's boxing history

The Irish Katie Taylor defeated the Puerto Rican Katie Taylor this Saturday by split decision in the fight that marked the Madison Square Garden before and after in women’s boxing.

In a fight that could well have been tied, two judges voted 95-93 Y 97-93 by Taylor and one, 95-94 by Serrano. The Irish kept all the titles of the light division and was ratified as the queen of women’s boxing, number one, pound for pound.

With great speed of hands and legs, the Caribbean woman came out to punish with the ‘jab’ and block Taylor’s path in the first round; TheEuropean responded well, with good impacts and did not allow Amanda to go ahead.

Although the Puerto Rican took the initiative again, the best shot of the second was of the Irish, who in the third was seen well with the combinations. Katie entered, hit and escaped, however Amanda finished better.

The Caribbean shot more hits against the European, with blood on her right eyebrow, but Katie was more effective, despite shooting less.

Fast as a feline, in the fifth round Amanda went over the opponent, with a bloody face. First he punished her in a corner, then he took advantage in the exchanges in the center of the ring against a Katie whose legs did not respond.

Amanda went for the Irish champion, returned to cause the exchanges and it was seen better again.

What was seen in the tenth round was a sign that women’s boxing does not envy anything to men’s . The last 30 seconds, despite being injured, the two fighters were punching machines, with no advantage for either.

An almost familiar embrace between the rivals shook Madison Square Garden as the epilogue of a battle that could have been for either of the two rivals, but two judges voted with wide advantage for the winner which caused whistles from the public.

Katie added her twenty-first victory without defeat, six by knockout. Amanda suffered her second setback, with 30 wins, 30 on the fast track, and a tie.
