The canceled flight of a couple from Oklahoma City when they were on their way to celebrate their wedding in Las Vegas, took them to celebrate their wedding aboard a Southwest Airlines plane.

Southwest Airlines said in a Facebook post that Pam Patterson and Jeremy Salda booked a flight to Las Vegas on Sunday and decided to travel with your wedding attire to be ready for your appointment at the wedding chapel at 9 pm

The couple arrived at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to catch their connecting flight to the International Airport Harry Reid in Las Vegas, but after several delays they were told that their flight had been cancelled.

A fellow passenger named Chris, who was also trying to travel from Dallas to Las Vegas, overheard them talking about their situation and revealed that he was an ordained minister and would be willing to personally preside over their wedding in Las Vegas.

The trio booked the last three remaining seats on a Southwest flight from Dallas Love Field airport to Las Vegas and took a carpool from one Dallas airport to the other.

While boarding the new flight, the pilot, Captain Gil, noticed that Patterson was wearing a wedding dress and asked him about it.

“Pam explained her story and joked with Captain Gil that they should get married in the flight. For the second time that week, Pam was shocked to hear the words ‘Let’s do it,’” reads the Facebook post.

The crew decorated the passenger area with toilet paper streamers. A stewardess named Julie introduced herself as maid of honor and a professional photographer who was on the same flight took out his camera to document the ceremony.

“ Another passenger passed out an old notebook for the entire cabin to sign with well wishes and their seat numbers, which was given to the bride and groom as an impromptu guest book,” Southwest said.

The post congratulated the couple “for a memorable in-flight wedding that neither our employees nor passengers are likely to forget.”
