The Chivas de Guadalajara are still looking for a technical director after the dismissal of Marcelo Michel Leaño. Many names have already been rumored, and one of them joined the list this Wednesday, after appearing at Hiram Mier’s press conference: Juan Francisco Palencia.
Palencia, through her iPad, connected to listen to the words Hiram Mier, in the preview of the last day of the Closing Tournament 2022, which will see the Sacred Flock face Necaxa. Speculation immediately began.
Paco Palencia is no stranger to the rojiblancos, as he played two seasons with the team. He was also with Chivas USA. He was even sports director of Chivas in the 1200-2014, shortly before starting his coaching career.
After directing FC Sant Cugat, Palencia went through three clubs from Mexico failing to shine: Pumas (2016-2017), Lobos BUAP (2018-2019) and Mazatlan (2020). Since then he has not taken the reins of a team again.
According to Mediotiempo, the Chivas communications department stated that the press conferences are freely accessible, and that they have no employment relationship with Palencia. Similarly, the appearance of the former player and coach is curious. Will it be considered by Ricardo Peláez?
