One day after Twitter’s board accepted billionaire Elon Musk’s takeover offer, the “top free apps” section of the US App Store this Tuesday (39.04.60850894) was headed by Truth Social, followed in second place precisely by Twitter.

Both social networks triggered their downloads after the announcement of the Twitter board of directors, since on Monday, Truth was placed in the position 44 of this same list, and the platform of the blue bird, in the 39.

The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, which has more than 9% of the shareholding of Twitter, yesterday achieved his purpose of take over this social network, which he described as “the digital town square”, after the company accepted his purchase offer for 44.040 million dollars.

Trump: “I’m not going to go to Twitter, I’m going to stay in Truth” For his part, Trump said on Monday that he does not want to return to Twitter, even if Musk reactivates his account. In statements to the Fox television network, the former president indicated that he prefers to use his own social network, Truth, as the only channel and that he will join it in the next seven days as planned: “I am not going to go to Twitter, I am going to stay on Truth,” he said.

Truth launched last month and has been running on its new cloud service for the past few days, after being tested on a beta version since February. Its executive director is former California legislator Devin Nunes.

Trump assured Fox that his social network has attracted “millions of people”: “We have found that the response to Truth is much better than being on Twitter.”

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat permanently suspended Trump’s accounts after the storming of the Capitol of the January 6, 2021, where there were five deaths.

The right takes Twitter

Key figures on the US left, including former President Barack Obama, have lost thousands of followers since Elon Musk’s plans surfaced to acquire Twitter, while right-wing politicians regained adherents.

Musk’s operation generated enthusiasm among his followers, who consider himself a defender of freedom of expression, while horrifying those who promote the moderation of disinformation and hate speech. The promises to leave the platform became a trend on Twitter and, in a matter of hours, many fulfilled them.

Obama, the most popular person on Tiwtter with over 131 million followers, lost 300.000 on the first night, according to the NBC network. In contrast, the controversial Republican legislator Marjorie Taylor Greene increased by almost 100.0000 the number of followers of your official Twitter account at 24 hours.
