28-year-old Hispanic woman died in a violent wrong-way crash that left another dead and another injured on Highway 60

A violent accident in the wrong direction that occurred early Saturday morning in the Moreno Valley area left two people dead, including one Hispanic woman, and one more was moderately injured.

The mishap occurred when a driver in the opposite direction collided head-on with another car that was approaching on the highway 60 westbound, in Riverside County.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received the report at approximately 3: 30 am east of Gilman Springs Road.

According to the CHP, a Hispanic woman of 28 years old, identified as Eva López-González and resident of the town from Hemet, was traveling the wrong way eastbound in the lanes of Expressway to 60 heading west at a speed of approximately 90 miles per hour aboard a Hyundai Sonata when he collided head-on with a Chevy Malibu.

Due to the force of the collision, both cars were destroyed in their front part.

The driver and another person who were traveling aboard the Chevy, both men, were moving from Palm Springs to Pico Rivera , according to investigators .

Authorities reported that the driver of the Chevy was later identified as Antral Thomas, of 40 years old and a resident of Pasadena.

The drivers of the two cars died at the scene of the accident due to the violent frontal impact , reported the Highway Patrol Of California.

The passenger of the Chevy, aged 49 years old and a resident of Pico Rivera, was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, according to the authorities.

Nearly a dozen Cal Fire firefighters remained at the scene conducting an investigation of the mangled remains of the two cars involved in the accident.

The highway 54 had been closed due to they did some construction work and it had just been reopened shortly before the mishap.

The westbound lanes were closed again when emergency services arrived at the scene to attend to the fire.

Shortly after 7: 30 am the road was fully reopened.

The authorities are keeping under investigation the causes that caused this accident in opposite direction.
