Finally the chilling and dangerous injury to the boxer’s right eye Yordenis Ugás, suffered at the hands of the American Errol Spence Jr., will not need surgery for recovery, so the Cuban quickly has launched a challenge to Keith Thurman Jr. for a next fight.

In conversation for BoxingScene, Ugás reported that the latest x-rays and medical tests, all under the watchful eye of your doctor, show that your eye is “healing well” and improving daily.

“Thank you to everyone who is sending in your prayers. My eye was closed and bleeding for almost 27 hours, it looked like tears of blood, but now it is open. In the next few days, with God’s favor, the swelling and bruising will be at zero, “added the man from Santiago de Cuba through his account on the social network Twitter.

But the welterweight boxer not only shared positive news about his face, but also confirmed what his next goals and aspirations are.

“Keith Thurman is one of the best fighters of our era and I think a fight with him would be something the fans would enjoy. We are warriors and we would bring a lot of emotion to the ring”

Himself Keith Thurman Jr., nicknamed ‘One Time’, has already hinted at a possible lawsuit against Ugás. In the vicinity of the clash between him and Errol Spence, he made his opinion known about his potential rival:

“He is a very big welterweight and has great reach”

He also sent a forceful message about the event of that night: he believed that he should be Spence’s challenger and not Ugás; That could be the potential argument for the promoters of both boxers to agree on a fight, all depending on Ugás’ recovery time and return to training, which it could take up to three months.

“It is very important to come back this year, come back strong to be able to make a statement and show that I am one of the best welterweights in the welterweight division today”, said Thurman Jr.

I definitely want to get in there with a Champion, but if I have to stay competitive and fight someone in the ranks in the months to come so be it. I’m gonna stay busy, but my desire is to make the biggest fights in the welterweight division. #OneTime

Yordenis Ugas, from 35 years and just over a decade in professional boxing after fleeing Cuba in 2010, has a record of 27 wins (12 by knockout) and five losses ; against Errol Spence Jr. was the first setback he suffered on the fast track.

For his part, Keith Thurman Jr. of 33 years maintains a record of 29 wins ( by KO) and a loss to Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao in 2019, a rival who, curiously, was able to beat Ugás in the past 2021.
