Eugenio Derbez answered yes is willing to dialogue with the President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who extended the invitation along with a group of influencers and celebrities who raised their voices against the construction of a section of the Mayan Train.
In an interview with the Mexican journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva of Imagen Televisión, the actor of “CODA: Señales del corazón”, affirmed that he is open to dialogue and thanked the invitation that the President of Mexico sent him, but he considers that he is not the one to reach an agreement.
“We are open to dialogue with him, but we believe that going to the palace to talk would not be the right path, because neither is he an expert, nor are we. Sitting down to talk so that he tells us: ‘Don’t worry, everything is fine’ is not going to get us anywhere,” he said.
The Mexican comedian explained that the best thing would be for the experts to be the ones who sit down to discuss the issue and can reach a viable solution for both parties.
“The ones who have to talk are the scientists, both on his part, as well as those who contacted us and among themselves discuss the real points and find a solution and what better way to do it there, in the place, not thousands of kilometers away. I think that is the right path”, reiterating that both he and the other celebrities who raised their voices, they are open to dialogue.
Although raising his voice in the #SalvameDelTren campaign caused him to be vetoed by Televisa, Derbez was grateful for the invitation he received along with Kate del Castillo, Natalia Lafourcade, Bárbara Mori, Ana Claudia Talancón, Fabiola Campomanes and Miguel Rodarte, among others, who last March shared a message on social networks against the construction of section 5 of the Mayan Train , a work that threatens the jungle and the ecosystem of thousands of native species of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.
“President López Obrador did the favor of inviting us to talk with him, which that at the outset we are very happy because I think this is the way, having disqualified us at first did not lead anywhere, dialogue is the way “, and thanked him for rectifying after assuring that they had been paid to make the request.
