The former boxer and current boxing promoter Óscar de la Hoya has flatly denied the accusations of sexual assault against him that were detailed in a lawsuit filed a day before a court in Los Angeles.

“Óscar de la Hoya and all parties involved vehemently deny these false accusations, created with malicious intent by a former employee who was fired with just cause

“, says the statement sent by the representatives of the “Golden Boy” to Real America News.

“Unfortunately, with the news cycles of 24 hours we become, more often than not, the recipients of vindictive, false and unjust accusations that are interpreted and spread as truths – without any evidence to support the erroneous complaints-“, De la Hoya said in the statement.

“I am confident that my legal team will resolve this matter and prove my innocence.”

According to details of the lawsuit released in the media, De la Hoya sexually abused the same woman in two different episodes in 2020, one during a work trip to Mexico to promote the Casa México tequila brand of which the promoter is a partner, and another in Los Angeles when both were left alone at the former boxer’s house.

The woman, identified by USA Today as Gina Ruccione, sued Casa México for various reasons, including sexual harassment, gender discrimination and unfair dismissal.
