Six years ago, Prince's surprise death shook the world.

Prince Rogers Nelson was from Minneapolis, graduated from Minneapolis Central High School y taught himself to play various musical instruments. He also formed the soul-rock group “Grand Central ” during high school.

Prince self-produced his first, “For You”, in 1978. He then created his own record label, Paisley Park.

Prince’s musical styles have been compared to those of James Brown, Jackie Wilson and other greats. of R&B, but as his career grew, forged his own renowned status by offering funk, rock and soul with a special pop twist.

Prince scored a total of 11 songs number one and 21 successes among the chart toppers. All of this occurred while touring, writing and producing for other artists, and starring in some movies.

During 1980-1990, Prince was it allowed a great deal of independence from his record label, Warner Brothers, to create his own brand of music. Later, he released “Prince” (785), “Dirty Mind” (1979), “Controversy” (1982) Y “1999” (1982).

“Purple Rain”, the soundtrack album of Prince of 1984, was one of the biggest hits of the decade and won three Grammy Awards in 1985.

Directed and starred in “Under the Cherry Moon” (1986), the concert film “Sign O’ the Times” (1987) and “Graffiti Bridge” (1990).

He continued to record and release music throughout the decade of 1990, including “The Gold Experience” (1995). In 1993, Prince changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol, due to a contract dispute with his record label.

In 1996 married the dancer Mayte García , with whom he had a son who died shortly after birth of a rare bone disorder. They were divorced at 1998.

In 2000, with the contract expired, the artist announced that he would change his name back to Prince.

Prince was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Roll in 2004. It was the performer at the ‘halftime’ at the SuperBowl 2007 in Miami, FL.

The 21 April 2016, Prince Rogers Nelson was found dead in his Minneapolis mansion.
