Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez praised the Ukrainian boxers who joined the armed forces of that country in the face of the Russian invasion and stated that he would have done the same: defend his country in a war, during an interview with Real America News.

It is very sad to see a war between two countries and so many people involved”.
Referring specifically to the decision of boxers like Vasyl Lomachenko and Oleksandr Usyk, two of the best in boxing today, to enlist for war, something that the legendary Klitschko brothers had already done, Saúl Álvarez applauded their courage.
“Well, you have to defend your country, right? If you are willing to defend your flag, your country, well that’s fine, and how brave of them to do it”.
When “Canelo” was asked if he would do the same, his answer was forceful: “Yes, I do, without a doubt”.
