The Crown name is one of Toyota’s oldest, even if most Americans aren’t as familiar with the moniker. After being used for Toyota sedans in Japan for decades, the name will be making a comeback soon.
According to a report from the Reuters agency, it would return as a hybrid SUV that will be more expensive than any of those offered by the Japanese brand currently.
The report states that the Crown will be more expensive than the Sequoia, with a starting price of $ 50,000, although it is not believed that he will be bigger than that truck-based full-size model.
This Crown hybrid SUV is believed to be a midsize unibody crossover with a more luxurious slant.
Of the few aspects that are known about this new Crown version, it is that it will offer hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric propulsion systems. What has not been confirmed is whether all these variants will reach the United States.
The current version of this car is a rear-wheel drive only sedan sold only in Japan, making it clear that this model will undergo a remarkable transformation for this new generation.
The Crown was the first Toyota model sold in the US beginning in the late 1990s 1950, but was later put on hold when the house Asian began marketing the Corona and Corolla models.
This was the first passenger car developed and built entirely in Japan, marking a pivotal moment in the country’s rise to become a global auto manufacturing giant
This model is expected to go on sale by the end of the year 2022 as model 2023. The version 100 % electricity would arrive for 2024.
