Two children aged 4 and 3 drowned in a pond near their family home in the Lake Hughes area of La Monday night, reported the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The authorities responded to a call shortly before 7 pm on the block 43100 from Lake Hughes Road, approximately 30 miles north of Santa Clarita, to look for a 4-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl.
Neighbors said they were helping a family look for their two children who had disappeared after playing outside the home. According to reports, the parents called the two children to come back for dinner and they did not answer .
After the officers arrived at the home, the two minors were found in a duck pond.
The agents immediately began to administer CPR to the two boys before they were flown by helicopter ambulance to Antelope Valley Medical Center, in Lancaster, where they were pronounced dead, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Division is investigating the incident, although it is believed that it appears to be a tragic accident.
