A few months after having the idea of getting a tattoo in honor of his grandmother, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez showed the engraving in his left arm during an interview with Real America News.
The tattoo consists of the phrase “I love you” engraved on the arm exactly with the letters as her grandmother wrote them and includes a small heart with the initials of Enedina Fernández. Canelo explained it:
“My grandmother does not know how to write, she never went to school ”, Álvarez shared during the talk at his gym located in San Diego. “But they wrote it to her, how the lyrics were written and she already wrote it for me, she made me a little heart, Enedina Fernández, her initials.”
Canelo has multiple tattoos related to his family, including a tattoo of the eyes of his wife, Fernanda Gómez, which is also found on his left arm.

In the same talk, Saúl Álvarez commented on what he considers his secret to having a balanced and fulfilling life .
“There is time for everything, and you also have to be disciplined to dedicate time to everything”, he assured.
“Obviously for me the most important thing is my family and my family also understands me”, he added regarding having to focus a lot on his camps when he has a fight ahead.
And speaking or his family, the 80 year-old from Guadalajara recently posted on his Instagram account a video in which moments of their wedding are seen, which took place last May in Nayarit, Mexico, accompanied by the phrase “The best day of my life”.
In this regard, he commented: “Well, I got married with the woman of my life, the woman I love, with the woman who makes me happy, the woman who complements me, and it is one of the best days of my life”.
Álvarez is preparing to face Russia’s Dmitry Bivol on May 7 in Las Vegas, in his return to the light heavyweight division.
