About 4,796,245 people have fled Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion on 24 February, according to figures published by the High Commissioner for Refugees of the UN (Acnur) this Friday.
To these are added 215. Non-Ukrainians who fled the country, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
This is the largest exodus of civilians since World War II. In addition, the war has caused more than 7 million internally displaced persons in the country, according to the IOM. Before the war Ukraine had a population of 37 million people.
Poland is the country that has received the most refugees (2.7 million), followed by Romania (725,000).
A 90 % of the refugees are women and children, since men among 18 Y 60 years cannot leave the country because they could be called to fight against the Russians.
In addition, two Thirds of Ukrainian children have been forced to leave their homes, either to flee abroad or to settle in other parts of the country.
