What is known about the vehicle

Authorities believe the suspect may have been using a U-Haul with Arizona AL license plates31408 and they already found that vehicle in Brooklyn.

A manhunt for the suspect has spread across several states, according to recent revelations from authorities because the gunman of the Tuesday’s mass shooting in a New York subway station could have ties to Philly, according to law enforcement sources.

A U-Haul truck found in Brooklyn that matched the description of a vehicle wanted in connection with the shooting, may have been rented in Philadelphia, said a former Philadelphia police department chief New York to NBC Philadelphia.

Law enforcement sources believe that The man who rented the U-Haul has ties to Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and who drove the van from Pennsylvania to New York on Monday, according to license plate reader data. The identity of the man who rented the truck has not yet been revealed.

What videos or images are available

Apparently, one or more security cameras installed in the subway station failed and did not capture images of the suspect, something that is investigating, which has forced the use of images taken by train passengers with their mobile phones.

What do the witnesses say and what else have they found at the scene

The event took place around 8 o’clock.30 in the morning while the train was waiting to enter the street station 36, at the height of the neighborhood of Sunset Park, at which time the individual put on a gas mask, launched his device to spread smoke, opened fire and injured “multiple people on the train and in the platform”, detailed Sewell.

The statements of the witnesses to the local media and the recordings shared on social networks draw a chaotic scene, with frightened passengers and bleeding wounded, scattered throughout the car and on the platform floor while being treated.

At the scene, investigators recovered a pistol and several high-capacity magazines, as well as fireworks and gunpowder.

The weapon, a Glock pistol, was apparently jammed, a problem that may have prevented the shooter from causing further damage. “It was lucky that it got jammed, because we may be talking about a lot more people in hospitals or worse,” one of those sources told CBS News. “Dozens of more people could have been injured or have more serious injuries,” he added.

The authorities, who quickly suspended several subway lines while inspected trains and stations, have ruled out the existence of explosives and have reopened most of the transportation system, but they still do not know the reasons for the shooting.
