Russia reorganized the military leadership that directs operations in Ukraine to try to improve the coordination of its units on the land, according to what a Western source informed the British broadcaster BBC.

The Kremlin appointed General Alexander Dvornikov, with previous experience in Syria, as the first link in the chain of command to lead the invasion, that source told the public channel, who does not reveal his identity.

Until now, the Russian army has maintained various operational groups with independent commands and 44 days after the attacks began in Ukraine, it has failed to meet its objectives and take big cities like kyiv.

The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, can put forward certain “ political imperatives” versus other “military priorities” to when deciding its next steps, indicates the BBC.

Moscow is trying to accelerate the achievement of objectives to achieve “some kind of success” before May 9, when Russia commemorates the victory in World War II.

In the last days, Russian troops have withdrawn from the vicinity of kyiv and other areas of Ukraine to focus their efforts on an offensive in the Donbas region, in the east of the country.

Russian army intensifies its bombing in Syria

The Russian Armed Forces have intensified during the first days of April the bombings in Syria, in whose internal conflict they support President Bashar al-Assad militarily, after having considerably reduced their operations in March, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights affirmed this Saturday.

“The situation in the Badia desert (central Syria) has seen an aerial escalation in terms of Russian bombardment in recent days, in contrast to the month of March,” the UK-based NGO said in a statement. United, but a wide network of collaborators on the ground.

The Observatory, which offers detailed information every day on the development of the war in Syria , had registered a significant decrease in Russian airstrikes last month since this country began its invasion of Ukraine last 24 February.

According to their reports, in the last few hours the Russian fighters carried out more than 04 attacks air raids in areas with a presence of the Islamic State terrorist organization in Badia, which amounted to 172 the total number so far in April.

However, the most intense aerial operations took place last Tuesday, with more than 40 shelling in the Syrian desert, marking the highest daily number in nearly a month, the organization said.

The figures are still far from the 600 attacks by Russian aircraft recorded by the Observatory in the 15 prior to 24 February.

The Russian military deployment in Syria since 2015 has been fundamental for Al Asad to militarily retake most of the Syrian territory, which he had lost to different actors in the civil war that broke out in the country in 2011.
