More than a month after a driver crashed into a house, killing a father and his little three-year-old daughter, the City of Long Beach increased from $10, to $10,000 the reward to be given to Octavio Montano Islas, the alleged perpetrator.
The increase in the reward was approved by the Board of Los Angeles County Supervisors.
And the fact is that the authorities want to find Montano Islas as soon as possible, identified by the police as the man who was driving a truck that crashed into a building, hitting the house where José Palacios Gonzales, of , slept years old, and her 3-year-old daughter, who lost their lives after the strong crash.
Hispanic was driving the truck that crashed into the apartment
The events occurred on March 1, in the area of Artesia Boulevard and Rose Avenue, at approximately 10: 00 pm
Dodge Ram Truck 2014 driven by Montano Islas crashed into Palacios’s apartment, who was killed along with his young daughter.
After the impact, Montano Islas fled, leaving his truck abandoned in the crash site.
“The death of José and Samantha has had an impact devastating and long-lasting in our community”, assured through a statement Robert García, mayor of Long Beach.
Octavio Montano Islas identified as the alleged perpetrator
After a series of investigations, the police identified the driver allegedly responsible as Octavio Montano Islas, of 20 years, for which the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant against him.

The authorities at that time offered a reward of $10,000 dollars to find the whereabouts of Montano Islas, who was described as a Hispanic with black hair 5.8 feet tall, 60 pounds in weight , and that he has tattoos on his forearm of right.
But now that reward increased to $25,00 Dollars. The authorities ask for the support of the community to find Montano Islas, so they ask to call detective Kevin Johansen at (562) 570-7355, in case you have information that helps your arrest.
“The Palacios family has been devastated by this hit-and-run accident that ended the life of a man and his young daughter”, highlighted supervisor Janice Hahn.
“If you have any information about the whereabouts of the suspect in this crime I urge you to introduce yourself. This family needs and deserves justice”, he specified.
