Two children aged 8 and 10 years old drowned, after entering the deepest area of the cave, located in Oaxaca.

According to the report of the authorities, the minors arrived in Tolistoque accompanied by their respective families to spend a pleasant moment. The place located in La Venta is a spa where they can swim and explore the caves.

The identity of the children was reserved by the policemen, who explained that both were playing when they plunged into the cave, while their parents had an oversight.

Realizing that the children were not near them, they called the local staff, who tried to get the children tied to a rope. Tourists who were swimming helped in the rescue efforts of the two little ones, who, when they came out of the water, had already lost consciousness.

The emergency elements arrived later to be able to save the life of the two boys, but after several attempts, they could not do anything for them.

After the fatal accident, the place was emptied and the state police closed the spa. The inhabitants of the area hope that the authorities will restore activities within the spa because one of the best seasons for economic reactivation is approaching, since families from various places visit Tolistoque.

The municipal coordinator of Civil Protection of Juchitán, José Manuel Ríos Cartas, reported that his staff will provide a training session for first aid to volunteers and municipal police of La Venta, to attend to any emergency before reopening the spa and hopefully before the Easter holidays that are celebrated in Mexico in the next few days.

Tolistoque is an eye of natural water with an area of 35 thousand hectares, which has caves, caves and huge trees that make it very attractive, it is very visited at any time of the year. It has one of the most important ecosystems in the region. It is located in the state of Oaxaca in the town of Juchitán.
