Video shows the moment when an alleged weapons depot on Russian territory was allegedly hit by a Ukrainian missile, causing explosions similar to fireworks.
The big explosion took place in Belgorod, in western Russia, just 12 miles from the Russian-Ukrainian border, near the village of Krasniy Oktyabr.
The Russian news agency TASS reported that four soldiers were injured in the explosion.
A video posted online by two local Belgorod media outlets appeared to show munitions exploding, but the source of the explosion could not be immediately confirmed outside of Tass.
The consequences Evidence of the missile attack could be seen from Ukraine last night.
Yuriy Butusov, a Ukrainian journalist, claimed that the depot was hit by a ballistic missile OTR-21 Tochka-U fired by missile brigade 19 from Ukraine.
This has not been confirmed yet by Ukrainian officials.
If verified, it will be the second Ukrainian attack on Russian territory since the beginning of the war after the airbase of Milerovo was attacked at the end of February.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of Belgorod, confirmed that there was an explosion and added that no Russian civilians were injured .
Refused to shed any light on the reason for the explosion.
Gladkov said: “I they heard explosions in the territory of Belgorod and the Belgorod region. The incident took place near the village of Krasniy Oktyabr
“The head of the village is in direct contact with me and he has given me all the information . There are no casualties or injuries among the residents. I will post the reason for this later.”
The Russian news agency TASS reported that four soldiers were injured when “a projectile exploded in a military camp”.
The report added: “Initial data indicates that the projectile was launched from Ukrainian territory.”
A source from the emergency services told the agency: “A shell fell on the territory of a military camp in the Belogor region. Four soldiers were wounded”.
The explosions came after Russia said it would begin to “drastically reduce” the troops in kyiv and Chernihiv.
The announcement made by Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin comes as a new round of peace negotiations begins in Istanbul.
Moscow had decided to finance “reduce military activity in the direction of kyiv and Chernihiv in order to increase mutual trust and create conditions for further negotiations,” he said.
But the Ukrainian reconquest of the city of Irpin, near kyiv, shows that the Russian forces are on the defensive.
Negotiations are expected to be resume on Wednesday, after weeks of clashes that have left thousands dead and nearly four million Ukrainians have fled their country.
Meanwhile, Fomin’s superior, Sergey Shoigu, said that Russian forces would now focus on the “liberation” of the eastern Donbass region, which indicates a major tactical shift, after Russian forces met stiff resistance.
However, the Russian announcement was met with skepticism by the Ukrainian leaders.
“These statements are outright lies intended to buy time to strengthen Russian positions,” government adviser Anton Gerashchenko tweeted.
In recent days, Ukraine said its troops had pushed back Russian forces from Irpin, near kyiv.
The Ukrainians managed to reoccupy villages and defensive positions up to 21 miles to the east of the capital.
Despite the vi torias, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, warned that there will still be a hard fight to come.
“We still have to fight, we have to endure Zelensky said. “This is a ruthless war against our nation, against our people, against our children.”
