TO 20 years of being kidnapped along with her sister Ernestina Sodi, Laura Zapata recalled the cruel moments he lived in captivity, what he considers was a “magical experience” that took him six years to recover, readjust and rejoin life.
It was during an interview with Yordi Rosado for her YouTube program, where the telenovela villain recalled the day she left a theater performance while on her way to dinner with her sister Ernestina, they were intercepted by a group of men, so he came to think that it was an assault.
“We began to see a van with a car like they’re fighting and suddenly we see the truck open the door and a guy with long guns gets out and I tell him: ‘woow, they’re bringing long guns and they’re coming towards us others’ and he tells me: ‘bend down’, but I didn’t bend down and I stayed looking at them”, he narrated.
Immediately, remember that a man arrived and with the weapon broke the window of his car, so he immediately reacted.
“I opened the door and said: ‘Let them take the car’. I got out of the car and ran, but they grab me and tell me you’re coming here. They put me behind the driver’s seat“, after changing cars, he finally concluded that it was something more than just an assault.
“They give us some horrible stinky towels and we arrive at the first safe house, me with an adrenaline rush shouting at them garlic, onions, sparks and everything and the gang leader tells me: ‘ Calm down Laurita, let’s not start with those things because then I’m also going to get very angry’”, he added.
And it was his captors who confirmed that it was a kidnapping and had a clear objective, Tommy Motola’s money.
“This is a kidnapping, it’s nothing personal, we want Tommy Mottola’s money and we want $5 million dollars
.” I even imagined that I wouldn’t give a single peso for her, the negotiations began directly with Thalía, who thought it was a joke and hung up the phone on the kidnappers.
“They spoke to Thalía and she hung up on them because she thought it was a joke”.

The actress and producer confesses that, despite the fact that they had had quite a few roses for family and personal reasons, Thalía behaved like a true queen.
“ Thalia was very generous, really. From the first moment they had the money there, she said: ‘that nothing happens to my sisters’ “, she added.
After 45 days of kidnapping and with 20 Kilos less, Laura Zapata was released to continue the negotiations and get the $3 million dollars they were asking for to free her sister Ernestina.
Zapara reported that during her kidnapping she always stayed with her sister in a same room, in which I listened to everything they talked about in other spaces of the same house with the help of a glass, and where the only condition they put on them was that when their captors entered we could not see them, otherwise they would kill them .
He recounted that there were dogs that drag chains on the roof and that there were like nine kidnappers, who came to think that it was best to kill them, “ because if there is no body, there is no crime”.
