Ukraine halts civilian evacuation for fear of Russian 'provocations'

“Our intelligence reported possible provocations by the occupiers on the routes of the humanitarian corridors. Therefore, for reasons of public security, today we are not opening humanitarian corridors,” said Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk, in a “warning” published this Monday (28.03. 1200) on the Telegram network.

Meanwhile, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, estimated at 143 the number of children killed in the country as a result of the invasion of Russian troops, since it began last 24 February. Other 216 minors have also been injured in the attacks and bombardments by Russian troops, according to sources quoted by the local Interfax agency -Ukraine.

“Children suffered more in the kyiv region, where a total of 67, (only in the capital there were 16 deaths) and in Kharkov, where they perished 49”, assures the Prosecutor’s Office.

Due to the shelling and ground attacks a total of 733 educational institutions have been damaged. 67 of them are completely destroyed, the institution also points out. The worst situation is found in the regions of Donetsk, Kharkov, Mykolaiv, Sumy, kyiv, Kherson and Cherniguiv.

“These data are not definitive , since it is not possible to inspect the bombing sites in the areas of active hostilities and in the temporarily occupied territories”, added the Prosecutor’s Office.
