The NBA game between the Toronto Raptors and the Indiana Pacers was suspended this Saturday and the Scotiabank Arena was evacuated as a precaution due to “a mechanical problem”, without no consequences for the spectators present or for the two teams.

The mechanical problem was the fire caused by one of the loudspeakers that generated smoke in the area where the fans were, and that could easily dissipate.

The Raptors were leading by 66-38 with 4.23 minutes to play in the second fourth when the game was interrupted and the stadium’s public address system asked the spectators to evacuate “the facility calmly”, emphasizing that there was no threat to their health.

“By order of the fire chief We have been asked to slowly and calmly evacuate the facility. There is no threat to security, I repeat, there is no threat to security. Please, let us evacuate the Scotiabank arena in an orderly and calm manner”, was the message broadcast over the public address system.

After an initial scare, the spectators regained their calm and left the stadium, while the firefighters stood by the side of the track awaiting orders.

According to local media, the decision to evacuate the Scotiabank Arena was made after smoke was detected in an area of the facility.

The match between the Pacers and the Raptors had to be suspended for a while, due to a small electrical fire in a speaker, but then everything ended with a victory for the locals‼️
