22-year-old gardener crushed to death after being dragged by wood chipper

A Canadian man died horribly after was sucked into a wood chipper in the middle of a suburban street.

Daniel Vanheyst, aged , was removing trees in Oshawa, near Toronto, on Wednesday morning when the tragic accident occurred.

A traumatized resident told the Toronto Sun that he was filming the crew clearing tree branches at the exact moment Vanheyst was trapped in the chipper.

“I saw his feet leave the ground. It was that fast”, said the anonymous man.

Said he rushed to help after seeing another co-worker run to turn off the wood chipper. It is not clear how Vanheyst was dragged into the machine.

“It was not a good scene for the youngsters,” added the resident.

Vanheyst was pronounced dead in the scene.

Your co-workers could be seen hugging each other as the police cordoned off the machinery and the street.

The victim was a contract worker for Eco Tree Care and had only started work on that particular limb removal job earlier that week.

The state Department of Labor is investigating Vanheyst’s death and the type of equipment used during tree removal.
