Agents of the Mexican National Guard (GN) evicted some 400 migrants who entered the facilities of the border port of Ciudad Hidalgo, in the Mexico-Guatemala division, looking for documents to regularize their situation.

The migrants, mostly Central Americans and from Cuba and Venezuela, arrived in search of their papers at the crossing between countries

and, to put pressure on them, they gathered at the pedestrian crossing and tried to enter by force, but were removed by Mexican agents.

According to versions, a group of migrants “were calm” but many others “wanted to enter by force and that was when the confrontation occurred.”

The migrants arrived in search of humanitarian visas after a group of people, which was already there since last Friday, was receiving attention from the authorities.

Due to this resolution, now hundreds of migrants are moving to Ciudad Hidalgo, in search of finalizing their immigration procedures, since the southern migration offices are saturated with foreigners seeking to be served by the staff of the National Institute of Migration (INM).

This is the second protest registered in less than 72 hours in the border area between Mexico and Guatemala and due to this, the authorities activated operations to dissuade the migrants.

On Saturday, a group of migrants from Venezuela and Cuba protested at the pedestrian crossing from Mexico to Guatemala to demand that the INM grant them humanitarian visas.

The migrants arrived in Ciudad Hidalgo, Chiapas, after a disturbance io in the city of Tapachula, where they denounced that there is chaos due to the saturation of migrants from Haiti and Africa.

The demonstration occurred while President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was touring Chiapas, where on Friday faced protests from dozens of migrants who sewed their mouths for the treatment they receive from the INM.

In recent weeks there have been several protests in Tapachula to request the expediting of immigration documents.

In some of these marches there have been clashes with the National Guard and, on at least one occasion, a group of migrants of Haitian origin and African broke into the INM headquarters by force.

The region is experiencing a record flow to the United States, whose Customs and Border Protection (CBP) office detected more than 1,400, of undocumented immigrants on the border with Mexico in the fiscal year 2021, which ended on 30 of September.

Mexico deported more than 114, foreigners in 2021, according to data from the country’s Ministry of the Interior.

Mexican authorities have intercepted 73.034 foreigners with irregular stay in national territory between January 1 and March 8 of this year, according to recently reported by the INM.

Meanwhile, the Mexican Commission for Refugee Aid (Comar) received a record of 114.448 Sun Shelter in 2022.

Last Thursday, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) announced the dismantling of a transnational human trafficking organization that operated on the country’s southern border thanks to “extensive bilateral cooperation” between US and Mexican authorities. .
