The Ukrainian president stated that thousands of Russians have been captured, as Putin continues his invasion, after losing three of his top generals.

Volodymyr Zelensky announced the opening of a special headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war in the midst of the bombing of his country by Russia.

Zelensky announced that the current government infrastructure cannot support the number of Russian fighters that have been captured.

Putin has lost 11 military commanders and three generals so far, while the campaign continues to take a heavy toll on the Moscow forces.

The President of Ukraine announced: “The number of captured occupants has already reached such a level that this problem cannot be left in hand s from the structures we had before the war.

“Therefore , today the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has established a Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war.

“Thousands of enemy soldiers who have been captured or surrendered receive from our state the treatment required by international conventions.

“But there are so many that a special structure is needed to deal with all related topics”.

Vladimir Putin’s invasion has caused morale among his forces to plummet in the face of fierce Ukrainian resistance.

Sobbing Russians have been filmed telling their captors that they had no idea where they were being sent.

But now there are fears that their vengeful commanders will shoot them when they return home, reported the British daily Telegraph.

Speaking at a press conference in Kiev, a soldier from the 2nd Motorized Rifle Division said: “In Russia, we are already considered dead.

“They gave me the opportunity to call my parents and they told me that a funeral had already been arranged for me.

“If we are exchanged, our own people will shoot at us.”

The information comes amid reports that Putin-allied Chechen fighters are being used to block any Russian withdrawal, in a brutal repetition of World War II tactics.

The Ukrainians now claim to have killed more than 12,000 Russians since Putin ordered his troops into his country.

The attack reportedly claimed the life of another senior Russian commander while he was Putin’s forces press on the capital city.

According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the dead officer was Colonel Andrei Zakharov, commander of a tank regiment.

He was photographed receiving the Order of Courage at 2016.

His death adds to the number of Russian commanders killed during the invasion of Ukraine, which includes three generals.
