Former Dominican MLB player, Odalis Pérez, died at the age of 43

Odalis Pérez, former Major League pitcher and Dominican Republic pitcher, passed away at 43 years old this Thursday 10 of March. Several reports indicate that Pérez was alone at home when he fell from a ladder and lost his life.

Erick Almonte, president of the National Federation of Professional Baseball Players of the Dominican Republic (Fenapepro) confirmed the tragic news. Odalis Pérez’s brother was the one who obtained the body of the former pitcher on Thursday night.

“Around seven o’clock at night, her brother, Cristian Pérez, arrived at the house and found Odalis lying in the patio of the house. We don’t know the official reasons, but everything seems to indicate that Odalis slipped down a ladder. right now the body is still in the house while the forensic doctor arrives. This is a disgrace,” Walin Batista, Pérez’s lawyer, told ESPN journalist Enrique Rojas .

Odalis Pérez was born on 11 June 1978 in Las Matas de Farfán, Dominican Republic. He debuted in 1998 with the Atlanta Braves and also played with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kansas City Royals and Washington Nationals.

Got an invite to the Game of MLB All-Stars in 1998. His career ended in the year 2008 with 1,335 work tickets, an effectiveness of 4.46, 920 strikeouts and 338 walks.

In the Dominican winter baseball league he pitched with Lions of the Chosen and Eastern Stars, starting his career in 1996 and retired in the campaign corresponding to the year 2011-12. Additionally, he had a brief stint in the United States Independent Baseball League.
